OUR STORY
CHESTBED STORE HISTORY
THE CHESTBED STORE was founded in 1977 by William H. McGunagle in Petaluma, California during the height of the "Waterbed Craze". After wholesaling Chestbeds to local unfinished furniture stores and chains such as "The Sawmill" from 1975-1977, William decided to open up his own retail store. Manufacturing quality products was the goal from the beginning. In 1993, Kirk and Liz McGunagle purchased the Chestbed Store from William continuing the tradition of manufacturing quality space saving bedroom furniture. Since purchasing the business in 1993, Kirk and Liz have expanded the product line of the Chestbed Store to include many quality American Furniture Manufactures such as Simply Amish, Copeland Furniture, Whittier Wood and Flexsteel Sofas. The mattress business has been expanded in the last 20 years with the inclusion of Tempur-Pedic, Sealy and Stearns & Foster brands. Come visit the Chestbed Store in the beautiful town of Sonoma, CA and see what has set the Chestbed Store apart from the competition for the last half of a century.
